When we thought about which Wedding represented us the most, the answer seemed automatic for both of us: Arianne and Marco. Perhaps because Ari is Nathan's sister and Marco's our brother-in-law / brother-of-heart. Perhaps because of the days at the farm that preceded the wedding, the bonfires in the moonlight, the freezing cold, the warmth of the crowded kitchen, the preps done by our friends, the laughter in the kitchen as the cake baked and the dulce de leche cooked under pressure.

A good part of their friends are our friends, even living in different states, even with the physical distance, we had an agreement of not letting more than 3 months go by without seeing each other and thus strengthen our family relationships and friendship.

We divided this post into 3 parts: the days on the farm, the days at Casa Amadú and the wedding day. I also decided to write this text, representing me and Nathan, because that's how I feel about them: a spectator who was invited to be part of the family. And what a family!

When Ari and Marco decided to get married, the choice of place seemed obvious: Cunha. Where Ari's big family farm is located, where Ari and Nathan's father currently live and where everyone goes for the holidays.

We arrived at the farm almost 10 days before the official wedding date for preparations. Pack the jabuticaba jellies that Ari made with her mother, separate the logs for the decoration with Michael, Ari's "heart-father" (yes, this beautiful person has two parents!), prepare the barrels for the fire pits and ...breathe. Breathe the air of the farm, the depth of the stars, the energy of the dogs running around the dam, the smell of pizza in the wood oven.

Moments of peace, of laughter, of playing ping pong at dawn and cards by the fireplace. Tauaçuri days.

This wedding was made and photographed by many hands. By Sophia, Nathan's daughter, by Ian, Nathan's and Ari's brother, by Ana, our longtime friend and photographer, and Bichinho, our great friend and filmmaker who filmed this incredible moment. Each of them contributed to making this one of the most significant and remarkable moments of our life, each one of them is an essential part of this great family. And to each and every one of them our greatest and most sincere love and thanks.

The Farm | O Sítio

During the period on the farm, we went to Casa Amadú a few times to leave things that we had already prepared: drinks, furniture, barrels ... and in that brief moment we already had a glimpse of the days to come, the breathtaking sunsets , the extremely cold nights, the sea of mountains that greeted us good morning every day.

It was at Casa Amadú where we received our friends and it was there that every single one of them made this wedding happen. If there is one thing we can say that is: everyone got their hands dirty and without them, nothing would have happened. From the cake made by Bia (and the thousand previews that we "HAD to taste" before the official one was ready), the ring holder sewn by Bella, Marco's mother, Bel, who is an event producer and her team, the blackboards painted by Bender and Ian, the giant macrame made by Carol for the altar, the furniture carried by Fofão, Ari's uncles catering service, and everything, absolutely everything, passing through their hands. Even Ana, when she arrived to photograph, brought her homemade liquors produced by her and her husband.

The meaning of wedding was raised to a thousandth power, it took on another form, another color, another reason: community. How can we not talk about Ale, the owner of Casa Amadú, who has become an integral part of this community? He became a friend and partner. Not only did he get his hands dirty, but he determined that the Araucaria natural reserve on his land would be called Arimarco, in honor of this incredible couple. In fact, during the ceremony, the two planted an araucaria seedling to mark this moment: as roots, as trees, union, growth and fortification. Family.

One of the most memorable moments for me was on the first night, when Ari showed her dress to the bridesmaids. We screamed and shouted, crying of joy. Each of us received a headpiece made by Ari (did we say already that she is a jewelry designer?) to wear during the wedding. And since we are on this matter, it is also worth saying that Ari made her own headpiece and, her father Michael, who is the chief jewelry designer of the family, made the wedding rings (which, as a surprise, were only seen by the two of them at the time of their exchange, right in the altar).

On the day before the wedding a torrential rain swept over the top of the hills, and a mixture of apprehension and wonder took place. Can you imagine if that rain came on the wedding day and not the day before? But just as quickly as it came, it passed, setting the stage for the most anticipated day of this journey. In the evening, a cheerful wedding rehearsal, with chants and shouts and tons of emotion. In the middle of the darkness, we let there be light as the festoon of lights lit up, illuminating the whole garden. It felt like magic. The wedding day was finally coming.

O dia do casamento estava, enfim, chegando.

Casa Amadú

And then the time comes. The big day. And what a beautiful day! Arianne and Marco woke up crying, we woke up crying, the house seemed to be filled with a feeling of deep gratitude and expectation.

I confess that it was one of the most difficult things in the world to be able to get ready and at the same time photograph, so thank god Ana was there to cover all those moments. We usually say that she is the third Thrall in this business. :) Thanks to her we were able to enjoy, cry (and pay attention to Nathan in that part) and be free to photograph what we wanted, the way we wanted.

It was hard to send Arianne to her room. By lunchtime she was still making flower arrangements, painting blackboards and just walking around completely overwhelmed. Her hair and makeup were done by her cousins, another proof that everything in this wedding was done for them and by them. Even Nathan got his hair done, on what was a very sweet moment between brother and sister.

Marcão was becoming more introspective as the hours passed. When the time came for him to get dressed, he had help from Bella to do his hair, Nathan to pin his flower lapel and Fofão to keep the laughs up high in the room. But as the guests arrived, he dived in his own moment. With his St. George medallion hanging from his chest, he saw everything from a distant perspective and decided to leave the house only when it was time for the ceremony.

With the sun illuminating the Macrame threads and his aunt waiting at the altar to minister the ceremony, Marcão and Bel came out holding hands, in one of his most iconic expressions: the laughy-cry. Everyone around was overwhelmed with an indescribable emotion.

Nathan couldn't help himself and, as soon as he stepped into the aile, he burst into tears. It was as beautiful as it was comical. :) The bridesmaids and best men, the flower girls, the sun and, finally, Arianne.

The sound of the atabaques (a typical African drum) broke the silence on the mountains. With the sun shining in her eyes and sparkling on the opal on her forehead, Arianne emerged holding her father's hand and was soon joined by her second father. There she was, beautiful, arm in arm with her first loves, surrounded by so many other loves, and ready to be united to her greatest love. And so it was.

An eagle flew over our heads, the sun shone on the lake, creating an abundant and fantastic light, the araucaria was planted and their faces lit up when they first saw the wedding rings made by Michael.

We had the most beautiful sunset and the coldest night of the year (the temperature reached 0 degrees celsius). The beers froze right in the open, the bonfires brought heat and smoke, marshmallows crisped in children's hands. We were intoxicated with wine and love, dancing over a playlist that was carefully put together for months on by both of them. We were celebrating in every possible way.

What an honor, what a privilege.

This is our family.

E então chega o momento. O dia.
